EXCITEMENT TO DISTRESS
At eight years old, I was thrilled to receive a Suzie Homemaker oven for Christmas. This miniature electric oven only came with two baking mixes: sugar cookies and brownies. Quickly bored with the options, I got creative by shaving bits of colored crayons and mixing them into the sugar cookie dough. The crayons melted and blended in beautiful patterns as the cookies baked. Just as I finished, my older sister and her friend walked in, marveling at my creation. Their excitement turned to distress an hour later when they suffered from diarrhea, forcing me to admit why the cookies were so colorful!
PERSONALITY TRAITS
My family loves telling this story because it showcases three key personality traits of mine: creativity, inventiveness, and a need to serve others. These same traits later drew me to Cardology. My first encounter with Cardology was in 1990 at a new age bookstore in Houston, Texas. As a middle school science teacher working with inner-city students, I sought tools to better address their diverse needs. I found "Sacred Symbols of the Ancients: The Mystical Significance of Our Fifty-Two Playing Cards and Their Amazing Connection with Our Individual Birthdays" by Edith L. Randall and Florence Evylinn Campbell. Discovering that I was associated with the Queen of Clubs card, and resonating with its accurate description of my traits, I realized this knowledge could help me serve my students more creatively.
APPLIED WISDOM
Over the next five years, I read extensively about Cardology and applied its wisdom to teaching adolescents. As one example, I had a student named Thomas who was a King of Clubs playing card. Thomas was underachieving at school. I felt this was tragic given the fact that a King of Clubs possesses amazing mental gifts. Because Thomas had a domineering mother and showed signs of rebelling against being told what to do, I decided to try a different approach. I mentioned to Thomas my desire to teach a subtopic. However, I didn’t have the time to research it and would delegate it to a student but wasn’t sure any of my students had the capacity to independently comprehend and teach this information. Of course, this King of Clubs took that statement as a challenge. And Thomas shined as my ‘student teacher.’ Continuing to assist me in teaching, I observed a shift in him. He began to take more of an interest in academics and embraced a leadership role running for student council. In other words, Thomas was on track to follow his destiny.

IMPACTED AND INCENTIVIZED
Cardology profoundly impacted my personal and professional life, helping me understand my gifts, challenges, and purpose. I used it to better grasp the perspectives, motivations, beliefs, and behaviors of those around me. And I believe having awareness of my son’s Birth Card helped me be a better parent. Applying Cardology affirmed its power and accuracy which in turn incentivized me to learn more and more about it. Today, it is a daily tool I use for understanding people and guiding my interactions with them.
RECIPROCAL LEARNING
Using Cardology in teaching created a reciprocal learning experience. While it helped me meet my students' needs, I also learned more about the cards through working with thousands of students over thirty-plus years. Recently, as a university professor, I prepared future teachers to teach science and engineering, sharing what made me an effective teacher. However, I didn't include Cardology in this training. During the coronavirus pandemic, the urge to share Cardology's application in teaching grew stronger. I knew teachers, parents, and children were struggling. During this same time, I was experiencing a major shift in energies as I transitioned into a new seven-year cycle. In my seven-year spread, I had an Ace of Spades as my direct card and a Nine of Clubs as my vertical card in Jupiter. The Ace of Spades card represents Cardology and the Nine of Clubs suggests the sharing of this knowledge. So, I took a leap of faith and left my job to become a full time Cardologer.
PARENTS AND FAMILIES
One of my passions is to share how Cardology can be applied to parenting children. Towards that goal, I wrote a book "Unlocking the Potential of Children: How Cardology Can Help You Nurture the Development of a Child’s Authentic Self." While I enjoy working with an assortment of clients, I feel compelled to work with parents and families. Relationships are fascinating to me as they are to assist each of us to spiritually grow. As the spiritual teacher Rajneesh stated, “Relationship is a mirror…Every moment the other reveals you, exposes you. The closer the relationship, the clearer is the mirror.” There is so much to learn from a parent-child relationship!
My mission is to use Cardology to help parents and children understand their authentic selves and navigate family dynamics, allowing each member to be seen and appreciated for their unique gifts, purpose, and destiny.
